For 2025 we’re offering two entry points: a ‘meet and greet’ open day, and a two-day training course after which you can gain a professional qualification.

BPA FIRER COURSE, Sat/Sun September 20/21 at Fantastic Fireworks HQ, Luton, Bedfordshire
As members of the industry’s professional body the British Pyrotechnics Association, our courses are taught to their syllabus and trainees will be able to follow this up with an exam which is accredited by the nationally recognised City & Guilds qualification.
Our BPA firer training course is held over 2 days and is aimed at anyone who would like to become a professional Firer. It introduces the latest best practice as used by members.
Candidates must be 18 or over. After completion of the course they can sit the BPA exam online any time the following week.
The course will be held at our Rocket Park headquarters near Luton.
It covers:
- Firework Chemistry
- Firework Types
- Fusing
- Display Equipment
- Display Setup
- Hand Firing /Electric Firing
- Display Site Considerations
- Hazard Management
- Classification and Standards
The standard cost of the course is £225 including exam fee. For BPA members the fee is £195 (including VAT)
You must be aged 18 or over to take part.
For successful candidates willing to commit to fire for Fantastic Fireworks over Bonfire Night 2025 (November 1-9), we are pleased to refund the entire cost of the course on completion of a minimum of two displays for which you get paid.
Price includes VAT, lunch each day & refreshments.

In order to complete the necessary paperwork and comply with the BPA’s examination requirements applicants must book & pay for their place at least 6 weeks in advance.
